  12. This sounds like a minor problem but its driving me crazy! I believe its a 
  13. Win95 problem, not a modem problem: I am unable to hear dialing and modem 
  14. negotiation tones, even though I'm using the ATM1L3 command.

  16. The setup:
  17.     MidWest Micro P133 Desktop
  18.     InfoTel 28.8 Data-Voice-Fax modem  (FDVSP Modem type)
  19.     Windows 95 Dial-up Networking and Hyperterminal applications
  20.  
  21. Registry AT strings issued (as per modemlog.txt):
  22.     AT<cr>
  23.     ATM1L3&FE0V0&C1&D2S95=47S0=0<cr>
  24.     ATL1M1\N3%C3&K3BX2<cr>
  25.     ATM1L3<cr>             <= This was added using the extra settings box
  26.     ATDT;<cr>
  27.     ATDT#######<cr>

  29. The weird part:
  30.     -The first time I try after boot up, I hear negotiating tones,      
  31. thereafter, I don't.
  32.     -If I issue an ATDT#######<cr> directly in hyperterminal, I always 
  33.      hear negotiating tones.

  35. The not so weird part:
  36.     MidWest Micro (who tech support InfotTel as well) and Mircosoft 
  37.     tech supports are useless.

  39. I'd really appreciate a solution - thanks in advance.
